Review: Tim and Eric's Bilion Dollar Movie

     I'm somewhat on the fence about Tim and Eric. I've seen their show on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job, a few times. Unlike the majority of people I've met, I'm neither a devoted fan of the show nor do I hate them outright. Some of their bits I find truly hilarious, most notably anything involving John C. Reilly as Dr. Steve Brule; however many of their more scatological/gross-out comedy simply isn't for me. Tim and Eric are at their best when poking fun at low production qualities rather than simply trying to be gross or weird. Tim and Eric's movie is a similar experience. I laughed out loud at a number of the gags, but other moments turned me off to the film. Simply put, if you're a fan of Tim and Eric, you will like this movie. If you don't like them, you won't like their movie.

New Releases This Weekend

Opening today are The Lorax, Project X, and Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. None of these are getting very good reviews, but if I had to choose one to see this weekend, I would pick the one that doesn't tarnish a great authors work, one that isn't just the party scene from Old School, and one that is done by two of the greatest, most cutting edge comedians of our time. So go see Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie. It has been said that the best comedy today is going in strange directions, and Tim Heidecker and Eric Warheim are at the forefront of that movement. Other releases this weekend include the Robert DeNiro vehicle, Being Flynn and a documentary about Iran shot on an iPhone and smuggled into France inside of a cake so it could be submitted to Cannes called This is Not a Film, which currently has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
