Weekend Box Office

Act of Valor takes the top spot this weekend, making a total of $24.7 million. Apparently Americans don't see the downside of having active duty Navy SEALs act in a movie, namely that they are not professional actors and look about as comfortable on screen as a real actor would look in combat. Tyler Perry's Good Deeds takes second place with $16 million, his worst opening weekend since Daddy's Little Girls. Other openers this weekend Wanderlust featuring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston, and the Amanda Seyfried vehicle Gone limped into 8th an 9th place respectively. Overall a bad week for cinema, which is par for the course at this time of year. Expect to see an Oscar victory surge for The Artist next weekend.
